“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: …” Romans 1:16 NIV
We have all heard the expression “off the grid”, meaning to live disconnected from our nation’s electrical power grid. In that mode of existence, life does not go on as usual with the loss of our ability to use electrical appliances and equipment to help us do our tasks. The love of God is kind of like that. Staying connected to His Word and to His blessings enables us to do and accomplish so much more than we could do when choosing to go through this life without responding to His love. Further, for those of us who choose to stay closely connected with His great love, there will never be a “power interruption” for us between our Father and ourselves, as is all too common on both coasts with our nation’s power transmission grids shutting down during peak demand.
An interesting comparison can be made between our God being the source of all love and ourselves as we choose to respond to that love. If you can picture God as being the source [generator] of divine love and then picture ourselves as being the willing consumers of that wonderful love, then we have the basis for this comparison. When we plug any kind of electrical equipment into a power source, we draw electrical current from a generator far away to accomplish work locally. In similar fashion, when we desire to be valued and loved by our Creator, we turn to Him and draw from His blessings and power to enable us to do the work that He desires us to do.
Likewise, just as all electrical power consumed has to be transmitted a great distance over wires from the generator to the final consumer’s various connection locations, God’s communications with us are transmitted to all believers through the Holy Spirit. Before any high voltage transmission power can be utilized by a household, it has to be transformed to the lower, more human friendly household power, and by comparison, the Holy Spirit changes us with His power and transforms us with God’s love to become more like our Lord Jesus Christ and more pleasing to Him.
Across the globe, there have been many different frequencies and voltage levels utilized by many countries and described in many languages, with all being common to one thing: the safe and efficient use of electricity. By comparison, our Lord Jesus offers and applies God’s Plan Of Salvation equally to all peoples, in all languages and through one common message: God’s love.
